NCAA D1 Softball Player Reference on Aisling Wilson:
“Since arriving in Perth, Australia we have found ourselves amongst many different levels of talent and ability in the softball world. As former division 1 collegiate athletes, myself and Makenna Dowell always love to compete and challenge our skills. Upon meeting our team, we were confronted with a player named Aisling Wilson who wanted to do nothing but learn from us. She asked tons of questions, and used every practice as an opportunity to learn new things. She has an incredible amount of athleticism and a competitive edge much like players from the states. She is extremely coachable, and loves nothing more than giving back to the game. She would be a great addition to any team as a positive leader and hard working teammate”
Makenna Dowell & Justus Perry – Auburn University ’21
Coach Reference on Aisling Wilson:
“Aisling is the ultimate team mate. She has the ability to play all positions well, with a strong throwing arm and smooth glove work. Aisling has all the qualities of a good leader and has the great balance between being a fierce competitor and being able to enjoy the moment. She can hit anywhere in the line-up with great confidence. Any team would be lucky to have Aisling on their list, not just for her softball abilities but for the incredible individual she is.”
Coach Josh Cavanagh – A Grade (D1) Open Women’s Club Softball – State League
Education Goals?
“Academically, my college aspirations are directly related to my abilities to adapt and seek opportunities. My passions and interests have led me to a double degree in Sports Science (BEXSc) and Psychology (BSc(Psych)) and I aim to continue achieving top marks in these subjects transferring into the US College system. In the past year, I have achieved outstanding grades in my tertiary studies whilst training in preparation for National and International invitational tournaments as part of the State and National Softball Squads. I have found my dedication and commitment extremely useful in finding a working student-athlete balance where I excel in both areas and have no doubt that I will be able to apply this in a US College”
College and Softball Goals?
“My ambition as an athlete in college is to make a significant contribution to the team’s success and help it reach its goals. To do this, I plan to work diligently in practice and during games and foster team spirit. My academics are also a top priority and I aim to attain high marks, to ensure I can keep competing and helping the team achieve its goals. Gaining invaluable knowledge about the sport from my coaches and mentors is another core goal of mine, which I look forward to carrying with me throughout the entirety of my softball career”
Why compete in college softball and transfer to a US college?
“Going to college will provide me with many opportunities that will help me grow as both an individual and an athlete. The knowledge that I will gain in my chosen field, as well as the important life skills that I will develop, will prepare me for the future and open unique opportunities. The lifelong friendships and opportunity to network with industry professionals with be invaluable along with the possible internships and job prospects. Overall, college will provide me with the chance to compete at a high level of softball which will challenge me to become a better teammate, athlete and individual, whilst simultaneously allowing me to pursue in my passions and discover new interests”
What makes you different?
“My international perspective and experience in the sport of softball makes me stand out from other college applicants. I have the ability to communicate and collaborate with teammates and coaches effectively. My unique international perspective also provides me with a different view on the sport, which could be beneficial in the classroom and in the field. My willingness to learn and be coached is a great asset to any college program. Having already experienced aspects of tertiary education, I will be able to apply my prior knowledge to excel in multiple areas where other, lesser experienced athletes, may take longer to adjust”
Life Goals?
“I hope to take my passion for playing competitive softball as far as I can, with aspirations to continue representing Australia in the National Open Women’s Squad. I have a long-term goal to use my academic qualifications to open doors for opportunities in the fields of Sport Science and Psychology.
I also love to travel and explore new cultures and be a part of a community. I have a few hobbies that I enjoy, such as playing guitar and trumpet, and I am constantly looking to add more activities to my repertoire. My life goals are to continue to expand my knowledge, develop my skills, and make a positive difference in the world. I am confident that my education and athletic abilities will help me reach my goals, and I am excited to play softball at the college level and travel around the world. Ultimately, with my unique set of attributes, I am hoping to have a positive and lasting impact on the wider community”
