Connor’s Introduction Statement:
“I would like to surround myself with likeminded athletes with a goal of performing at an elite level. I’m very much a team player and believe I have the positive attributes and drive that you may be looking for? I believe I am a person that can adapt to different situations and communicate in different environments. College will challenge me physically and mentally to excel, not only in volleyball, but also in life. If selected to attend at college, it would mean a move away from home to a new country, however I think that this will provide me with the life skills, independence, and confidence to achieve things not only in the short term whilst in college, but also for the rest of my life”

Coach Reference on Connor – Coach Regan Fathers:
“As the current Norwood Bears Senior women coach in the SAVL, and having coached state teams for South Australia, I had the privilege of coaching Connor last year as the captain and libero for my SA U18 State Team.
I was thoroughly impressed by Connor’s performance, considering his limited exposure to volleyball prior to the state trials and competition. Despite residing in Victor Harbour, he continues to make weekly journeys to Adelaide to compete for the Norwood Bears in the SAVL, showcasing his commitment to the sport. Connor possesses a natural court sense and an instinctual read of the game, remarkable for someone with limited developmental opportunities. His passion for the game and dedication to his teammates are evident, complemented by a disciplined technique. These qualities make him well-equipped to excel at a high level. I believe that college volleyball would provide Connor with the necessary environment and coaching to further his development in volleyball. Moreover, his commitment and leadership qualities would greatly benefit the college volleyball, as dedicated individuals of his age are rare to find. Please feel free to contact me if you require further information about Connor. Thank you.”
Athletic / Extracurricular Activity:
“As of December 2023 I have been contacted by Volleyball South Australia to organise and run ‘SpikeZone’ weekly sessions (In February 2024) to children aged 5 and above in my local area. It is a great opportunity to promote the sport, and encourage children to meet new friends, get out of their comfort zone and have fun whilst learning volleyball”
College Education Goals:
“I see myself at college pursuing my education with volleyball playing a significant role in my development in both my personal growth, competitively and socially. After completing school at the end of 2023, I intend to get a degree in sports management at university/college. This educational choice will enable me with the skills to promote and organize not just volleyball but various sports for athletes of all ages and skill ability. I know that if selected for college, I will be provided with the opportunity to focus on improving my volleyball skills through the major assistance of coaches, whilst at the same time also developing into the best person I can be on and off the court. I plan to train and play as hard as I can every training session and every game in order to assist the team in succeeding”
College Volleyball Goals:
“Represent my College, playing the sport (soccer) that I love. Maintain a high GPA: Setting short-term goals to get all A’s for each semester and maintain a 4.0 GPA. Get involved in extracurricular activities and clubs that interest me or is related to my career path that can help me meet new people and gain valuable experience. Meet new people and get involved in social activities to make new friends and explore new interests”
Why do you want to compete at College Volleyball?
“I want to compete in college so I can continue to take my volleyball to the next level. I know college will provide me with all of the skills I will require later in life. My demanding sporting schedule has enabled me to learn how to combine my current studying while gaining top results. Due to balancing my sport, along with academics, consistently for many years it has given me the experience I would require for a college team. I am constantly striving to be the best player on and off the court and student that I can be. College volleyball will allow me to compete against the top athletes of my age group whilst simultaneously developing benefiting my game and my team”
What makes you different?
“The thing that makes me the most different to other athletes is my high level of energy. I thrive in team environments and understand the importance of each player playing an important individual role. I am proud of the amount of effort and determination that I put into every training session and game; and am constantly looking for any feedback anyone is willing to give in order to enhance my game. I take pride in being a leader on and off the court, as this is a major role in my position as libero. I feel my voice, communication and positive reinforcement, sets me apart from most liberos my age as I try to overemphasize how much I talk on the court. As I am not able to win points by myself, I heavily rely on overemphasizing small wins”
Life Goals?
“I am motivated to become the best volleyball player I can with perusing my goal to play for my Australia’s National Volleyball Team. After this, I aim to have a career in volleyball, trying to mentor and assist children achieving their goals and aspirations”
